Welcome to Notts Gymnastics Academy
Welcome to Notts Gymnastics Academy where we welcome all who share a love of physical challenges, benefits and grace of the various gymnastic disciplines. Whether you’re a parent looking to channel the energies of a tumbling toddler, an adult interested in fitness and flexibility or an elite gymnast, NGA prides itself on being able to meet the needs of all. Notts Gymnastics Academy is newly established and is affiliated to British Gymnastics. It builds on the work of previous clubs at the East Midlands Gymnastics Centre, who have been offering training in a variety of disciplines since 1997. The Rushcliffe centre is now home to world class gymnasts, as well as recreational gymnasts who partake in the 4 disciplines of Gymnastics For All, Women's Artistic, Men's Artistic, Acro and Tumbling. The academy focuses on delivering classes suited to all abilities in a safe environment with fully qualified coaches.
Gymnastics opens many doors and is a fantastic foundation for any type of sport or exercise. Requiring balance, coordination, flexibility, speed, power, endurance and mental skill, gymnastics will help you succeed throughout life. Gymnastics also develops passion which gymnasts may want to share by training as young leaders, teachers and coaches. In addition, it creates a well-balanced, fit, healthy & happy individual who will be well equipped to face life’s challenges. Our 4 sections offer fun in a wide range of gymnastics activities: Women's Artistic, Men’s Artistic, Competitive GFA, Trampoline, Acrobatic, Tumbling, TeamGym, Cheerleading, Adult and Pre-School. In addition, the elite squads offer focussed training for our most promising young gymnasts. Their progress, health and fitness are constantly monitored, with training tailored to meet individual needs. Current squad members compete at regional, national and international level. For gymnasts that are not ready to be elite gymnasts we have implemented a club route within all disciplines to allow them to thrive and achieve to their full potential.
The NGA is justifiably proud of our successes with over 1000 members including Britain’s best ever all-around Olympic Gymnast, Becky Downie, finishing 12th in the Beijing Olympics in 2008. In 2010, NGA had more European Championships finalists than any other GB club and squad gymnasts continue to be selected for GB internationals. Gymnasts from both the boys and girls squads are currently in the British National Squads, continuing our legacy for producing class gymnasts, with British Champions amongst our junior ranks. NGA are proud of all their gymnasts throughout the academy, their individual achievements, focus and commitment to training and the NGA recognises that success comes from hard work and the continued support of parents and a belief that anything is possible.
It is an amazing time to be a part of British Gymnastics and we hope to encourage children to take part in this exciting sport and to unlock the potential of all.
