Qualification Rounds: Mens & Women's
17th & 18th April 2013

The qualification rounds have produced good results for team GB overall.
Notts' Andy Smith had a disappointing floor finishing with 14.733 in 19th but in reality only 0.733 behind the highest qualifier GB's Max Whitlock (15.466), proving how tough it is at the top.

Becky Downie had more to celebrate with a fantastic qualification score of 14.733 on uneven bars. Becky herself commented that there was room for improvement. She finished 2nd only to Olympic Bar Champion, Aliya Mustafina and will be competing in the bars final on Saturday.
“I’m really happy that I got through it - it’s my best score this year. There was always a bit of added pressure having been out of the team for so long but I’ve had amazing support and always had self-confidence and I proved it today. I’m really excited about the final; I’ve been waiting a long time to go for a medal in a major outside of Britain so let’s hope for the best. I qualified for the bars final in 2nd, I actually shocked myself, shame medals aren't today but I'm so excited for Saturday."

The women's team success was deflated when Gabby Jupp sustained an injury dismounting off beam. She was stretchered out of the arena having only competed bars and beam but despite the fall, she still managed to score 13.566. Ruby Harrold, however, produced one of her best ever performances to secure a place in the all-around (54.799), beam (13.433) and bars finals (14.133); she will be joined in Friday's all-around final by first year senior Charlie Fellows who scored 52.566.
