THE GYMWORLD PROGRAM

GymWorld gymnasts work towards British Gymnastics Reward and Award badge schemes as well as developing their skills and gymnastics movements. The skills required for these badges will be taught and practised weekly and each gymnast will be formally assessed every 5 weeks. In addition to their weekly classes, gymnasts will be offered the chance to participate in suitable competitions, as well as opportunities to showcase their skills in open day sessions and displays.

MIXED 4 ½ - 5 YEARS and MIXED 6-8 YEARS GROUPS
These classes are designed to introduce gymnasts to the large range of gymnastics activities that we offer at Notts Gymnastics Academy. We include the many areas of gymnastics that our gymnasts aged 9 and over can specialise in. Each session starts with a warm-up, which will include games, aerobics, cheerleading chants and a dynamic stretch. Floor work including acro, cheerleading, fundamentals and key gymnastic movements are developed every session. This is followed by different weekly focus, varying from bars to vault, trampette to beam and floor skills to rebound apparatus. Each session ends with a calming activity, which not only will help to stretch and relax the muscles of each gymnast at the end of the session, but will also mentally calm each gymnast down before departing.

9+ and 13+ GROUPS
When a gymnast turns 9 years old, they are given the opportunity to specialise in the activity they prefer. Having worked through our GymWorld 4-8 years program they will be well equipped both mentally and physically to make a decision about the activity they would like specialise in and work thoroughly.

ADULT 18+ EVENING CLASSES

We offer evening drop in adult classes as well as classes during the day. Our evening adult classes follow a loose structure, whereby all gymnasts participate in a warm-up led by one of our coaches. Gymnasts are then given the option to join in structured activities such as floor skills and apparatus set ups to develop certain skills, or they can choose to work on their own choice of activity. A conditioning circuit is set up towards the end of the session, followed by a cool down activity.

PRE-SCHOOL

We offer an introduction to gymnastics through play. Your child will learn to swing on a bar, roll in different ways, vault and use a spring board along with walking on a beam. Their balance, hand eye co-ordination, physical development and social interaction with others will all improve. We hope to give them self confidence in their own ability, to try new things and achieve new goals. Click Training times and fees for more details.

PROFICIENCY AWARDS

The Gymnastics for all discipline participates in the British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Scheme which has eight levels of attainment. These awards provide the foundation for high quality gymnastics and cover the teaching of many core gymnastics skills.

Gymnasts work through the skills required for each badge which they practice and perfect and then perform in front of their coach during the chosen assessment weeks. At present we assess the gymnasts during week 3, 6 and 9 of each 10-week block. Once all eight skills are passed successfully, you will be notified and the gymnast will be asked to pay the appropriate fee in order for us to obtain the badge and certificate from British Gymnastics.

When the gymnasts have completed all eight levels they then progress to higher level awards on specific pieces of apparatus.
