About Us
Welcome to the General Gymnastic section of Notts Gymnastics Academy. Our classes cater for children from the age of 4 –17 and we also run adult gymnastic sessions 3 times a week. We aim to create a fun and enjoyable environment for all gymnasts. Our key approach is through ‘progressive’ training to instil correct methods and techniques whilst having fun!

The General discipline participate in the British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Scheme which has eight levels of attainment.
These awards provide the foundation for high quality gymnastics and cover the teaching of many core gymnastics skills. Gymnasts work through the skills required for each badge which they practice and perfect and then perform in front of their coach during the chosen assessment weeks. At present we assess the gymnasts during week 3, 6 and 9 of each 10-week block. Once all eight skills are passed successfully, you will be notified and the gymnast will be asked to pay the appropriate fee in order for us to obtain the badge and certificate from British Gymnastics. When the gymnasts have completed all eight levels they then progress to higher level awards on specific pieces of apparatus.
Supporters Group
The General Gymnastics discipline has a supporters group and committee meetings are held bi-monthly. We are always looking for new ideas which often come from new committee members with a fresh approach, so if you are interested in being a part of this group please contact Pete Taylor (Discipline Chair) This email address is being protected from spambots.
