Welcome To GFA

NEWGYMFORALL-SLIDER

Notts Gymnastics Academy strives to instill a lifelong appreciation of movement, exercise and sport whilst teaching children the rewards and qualities of dedication and hard work.

Welcome to the Gymnastics for All (GFA) Programme!

Gymnastics for All is the discipline which lets everyone, regardless of age or level of experience, enjoy and benefit from gymnastics.

Our goal is to create healthy, 'happy souls' who enjoy and participate in gymnastics.

Our weekly Gymnastics For All classes give a good introduction to gymnastics, concentrating on floor and vault, bars, beam (for coordination and balance) and tumbling.

GFA gymnasts will benefit physically through learning fundamental movement skills, learn discipline, perseverance and resilience, build their self-confidence and pride through their achievments in gymnastics, and make new friendships.

GFA gymnasts will have the chance to work towards the British Gymnastics Core Proficiency Award Scheme (Badges) and compete in our annual GFA In-House competition.

GFA at Notts Gymnastics Academy (NGA) delivers:

Weekly classes for school age children

Disability Gymnastics sessions for those gymnasts who neeed additional support

Drop-in sessions for adults aged 18 and over, and dedicated sessions for members of the gymnastics societies at both of Nottingham's universities

GFA Advanced and Competitive groups (by invitation only)

Pathways

Gymnasts might join GFA from our PreSchool programme, we may be their first experience of gymnastics, or they might move to us from a Men's Artistic or Women's Artistic group.

GFA gymnasts may carry-on enjoying gymnastics recreationally, and move up through the age groups right up to our Adult classes. Some of our gymnasts also go on to assist with coaching, volunteering at events, or become qualified coaches and help the next generation of gymnasts.

Gymnasts may also be asked to trial for a GFA Advanced group or a Competitive, Men's Artistic or a Women's Artistic squad. Lots of our coaches also coach competitive squads, so are able to identify children who may benefit from a group move. We may email or speak to you in person if we think this is right for your child, but you only need to accept an offer of a trial if you want to.

We also offer open trials where you can register your child to attend a trial session.

The flowchart below explains the groups and pathway in our Gymnastics For All discipline.

GFA pathways diagram

In order for each gymnast to reach their full potential we provide various paths to follow. All gymnasts are individuals and will develop at their own rate. NGA's vision and pathway is to support each gymnast to help them to be the best they can be whilst providing a stimulating environment for them to enjoy their gymnastics. Decisions on gymnasts group are based around their age, development stage, commitment and individual needs.
